Blessed are all those who are careful to do this. Blessed are those who honor my Sabbath days of rest and keep themselves from doing wrong. Isaiah 56:2, NLT
God commanded his people to rest and honor him on the Sabbath. He wants us to serve him every day, but he wants us to make one day special when we rest and focus our thoughts on him. For the Israelites, this special day was the Sabbath (Saturday).
Some Christians set Saturday aside as this special day, but many accept Sunday (the day of the week that Jesus rose from the dead) as the “Lord’s Day,” a day of rest and honor to God.
What is Salvation?
Simply put, God’s plan
of salvation is the
divine romance
recorded in the pages
of the Bible.
An Easy Explanation of Biblical Salvation: Biblical salvation is God’s way of providing his
people deliverance from sin and spiritual death through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament, the concept of salvation is rooted in
Israel’s deliverance from Egypt in the Book of Exodus. The New Testament reveals the source of salvation in Jesus Christ. By faith in Jesus Christ, believers are saved from God’s judgment of sin and
its consequence—eternal death. Why Salvation?: When Adam and Eve rebelled, man was separated from God through sin. God’s holiness
required punishment and payment (atonement) for sin, which was (and still is) eternal death. Our death
is not sufficient to cover the payment for sin. Only a
perfect, spotless sacrifice, offered in just the right
way, can pay for our sin. Jesus, the perfect God-
man, came to offer the pure, complete and
everlasting sacrifice to remove, atone, and make eternal payment for sin. Why? Because God loves
us and desires an intimate relationship with us:
How to Have Assurance of Salvation: If you’ve felt the “tug” of God on your heart, you can
have the assurance of salvation. By becoming a
Christian, you will take one of the most important
steps in your life on earth and begin an adventure
unlike any other. The call to salvation begins with
God. He initiates it by wooing or drawing us to come to Him:A Salvation Prayer: You may want to make your response to God’s call
of salvation in prayer. Prayer is simply talking with
God. You can pray by yourself, using your own
words. There is no special formula. Just pray from
your heart to God and He will save you. If you feel
lost and don’t know what to pray, here’s a prayer of salvation:
John 3:3 John 3:16-17 Acts 4:12 Acts 16:30-31 Hebrews 2:10 1 Thessalonians 5:9
Get to Know the Savior: Jesus Christ is the central figure in Christianity and
his life, message and ministry are chronicled in the
four gospels of the New Testament. His name
“Jesus” is derived from the Hebrew-Aramaic word
“Yeshua,” meaning “Yahweh [the Lord] is salvation.”
Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. Isaiah 55:6, NLT
Isaiah tells us to call on the Lord while he is near. God is not planning to move away from us, but we often move far from him or erect a barrier between ourselves and him.
Don’t wait until you have drifted far away from God to seek him. Later in life turning to him may be far more difficult. Or God may come to judge the earth before you decide to turn to him. Seek God now, while you can, before it is too late.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, NIV)
God wants to give you rest. He wants to refresh and restore your soul — your mind, will and emotions. It’s so easy to get caught up in the “busyness” of life, and before long, your mind, will and emotions are so “spun up” that you can barely think straight! But even in the hustle of life, you can find rest, ease and relaxation. God wants you to enjoy your life. That’s why He tells us to come to Him. God wants to take care of everything that concerns you so that you can find rest in your innermost being.
Imagine how you would feel if someone came up to you today and said, “Give me all of your monthly bills; I’m going to pay them.” You’d get pretty excited, wouldn’t you? But it wouldn’t happen until you did your part to actually hand that person your bills. They can’t pay them for you if you never release them. In the same way, when we release our cares and concerns to God, He promises to take care of them.
Today, choose to release your cares to the Lord. Let Him fill you with His peace and joy. Receive the rest that He promises and enjoy the fulfillment and blessing He has for you!
